The author box and the comments section are part of the blog post template, not modules of the post, which is why they cannot be selected or deleted in the post editor.
In Focus Plus, open a blog post in the editor, click Global theme styles and go to Other settings > Blog post > Show/Hide elements. Switch Show author box and Show comments off, then click Publish changes. The same group lets you hide the featured image, the author line, the date, the social share buttons, the tags, the related posts and the previous/next post titles. These settings apply to every post of your blog.
The free Focus theme has no show/hide settings for the blog post page; this feature is available in Focus Plus.
